Lesleigh Matthew is a full-time Artist who has studied in Australia and overseas. She has had exhibitions and sold paintings in Brisbane, North America (she lived in Iowa, U.S.A for four years), and on the Gold Coast. She started painting seriously in 1972, but for personal reasons discontinued painting full-time. She attained a Bachelor of Arts (1989) from the University of Queensland, and the following year a Diploma in Education. After teaching at various state high schools, and attaining a postgraduate Certificate in TESOL at Queensland University of Technology, she discontinued teaching (2002) and has returned to painting.

Although she painted previously in oils and water colours, she has recently completed works using acrylics and is enjoying the new medium. She finds that acrylics are versatile as they are quick drying and can provide her with good results using both oil, and water colour techniques.
